Joshua's First Soccer Game

Joshua FINALLY got to play his first soccer game today! YAY! Kathleen started her practices several weeks ago and played her first game last weekend and Joshua has been longing for his turn. He wanted to put on his jersey first thing this morning. We let him do that but told him to wait until closer to time to leave to put on his socks and shinguards. I think he asked every five minutes until we told him not to ask again.

Boy, did he shine this morning! We did not hear the first complaint about being tired or hot or anything. (And Joshua has a tendency to complain.) He hustled on and off the field. One time, as he came over for a water break, he said "This is hard but fun!"

At his level, the teams consist of about 24 players. They all practice together for the first 30 minutes, then break into 4 teams of 6 and play 3 on 3 for the last hour subbing kids in and out as they need breaks. They don't keep score and don't worry too much about the ball going out of bounds.

Here are some highlights from this morning's game...
