Joshua's Birthday

Joshua turned 5 years old today! And we had a full day of fun! Started out the day with opening presents then enjoyed a special breakfast specifically requested by Joshua - bacon, egg, & cheese biscuits with jam. yum. yum. :)
Here he's holding the gift Kathleen wrapped for him.

It was a pirate ship and accessories she found at the Sharing Shop. Timothy, of course, immediately wanted in on the fun.

Next was Aunt Sarah's gift which he proudly wore for the rest of the day. It was a cowboy belt. You'll notice it around Timothy's neck in the next photo.

Joshua also got a guitar from us. He's been wanting one for over a year now. Of course, Timothy thought that looked like great fun, too!

He practiced at least 4 or 5 different times throughout the day and is already getting the hang of a simple G chord.

Oma & Papa arrived Sunday evening and we had beautiful weather on Monday but cooler temps and the possibility of rain forcasted for the rest of the week. So Joshua got to open their present early. It was a new bike helmet along with a few pirate toys, including the spyglass he's holding in the picture.

For lunch on Joshua's B'day, we went to eat with Daddy at Louisburg College where he works. It was fun eating in his office then taking a quick walking tour of the campus. It was a bit cool and windy for spending much time outside.

Back at home, we put the finishing touches on Joshua's "dirt" cake - green whipped cream for grass, decorated with gummy worms.
That evening, we went out to eat at a local Italian restaurant and while we were waiting for the food to come, the waitress brought some pizza dough for the children to play with. Fun. Fun. Fun!

Timothy liked putting his on his head!

We enjoyed cake & ice cream back at the house for dessert.

And our next door neighbors came over with a gift for Joshua as well.

Oh, and here's a clip of our last guitar practice of the day, just before heading to bed. Aunt Sarah's old guitar is coming in handy to keep Timothy occupied while big brother practices!

All in all, I think it was a great 5th birthday.
